This safety awareness program, aims to introduce the positive aspects of karate as a method of self-defence. The program places emphasis on non-violence, self-esteem & confidence building and respect for others. In a safe environment, such as university and home, we teach the importance of defend and report, whereby students are encouraged to protect themselves in a non-aggressive way and report issues to a person of authority. In a NON-SAFE environment where a student may be placed in a position of danger, we teach techniques that may help in a potentially damaging situation. We do this by teaching students how to break out of certain holds, pulls and even tackles in an efficient and effortless manner.
"I think that karate is a really important life skill and teaches not only practical skills, but also encourages a level of self confidence that, in itself, is the best form of self defense." Classes will run for 4 weeks on the following dates:
