AUTUMN QUEST PLAYERS GUIDE. The standard Swordcraft rules in force at the time of the event will apply (as usual we reserve the right to make changes from time to time). Minor edits to the event rules may also be applied in the lead up to the event. In both cases, players will be kept updated via our website or the Facebook event. ALCOHOL AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT. Please see the published Swordcraft policy. FIRST AID. All medical problems at Swordcraft Quest will be handled by our hired professionals. First-Aid will be available 24 hours a day for the duration of the event. Our first aid officers are able to be contacted 24 hours a day by walkie-talkie, will be situated in the office in the main hall (during daylight hours), and will be situated in Cabin 4 during all other times. All these locations will be sign-posted. COMBAT IN THE TOWN. Unlike in previous Quests, the public areas in town (all part of town other than warband camps) will be free combat areas as per the standard Swordcraft combat rules. COINS. Swordcraft coins will be in play as well as a wide variety of other player driven IC currency. Swordcraft has not set, and does not officially support, any kind of conversion rate between IC and OOC currency. TICKETS. Full event ticket access: Sunday to Sunday. Weekend ticket access: Thursday to Sunday. Day ticket access: 9am to 6pm on selected day. VEHICLE ACCESS AND PARKING. Gates are opened from Sunday 12pm and are closed each night from 11:00pm Vehicles must follow the directions of the local signs, Swordcraft officials, and the traffic control personal. FIRES AND COOKING. Players are welcome to bring their own fire barrels and braziers to cook on but they must have a coal/ash tray. There are a large amount of fire barrels on site that can be used however organisers reserve the right to allocate them as necessary. Non-period gas burners are also permitted but players are requested to keep them out of view. Water buckets will be provided, and must be filled and maintained by the camp. At the end of the event ALL fire pits must be emptied into the allocated ash pile and returned to the pick up point. There will be some vendors in the town selling food. RUBBISH AND SITE CLEAN UP. It is every attendee’s responsibility to keep rubbish to a minimum. Please use the provided bins and skips to dispose of all rubbish. If more bins are required, please contact a Marshall or Park Ranger. At the end of the event ALL attendees must clean up their campsite. Upon completion your camp site must be inspected by a volunteer or site ranger before you are allowed to leave. Exceptions will, of course, be made for emergencies. We also ask that attendees refrain from using the toilet paper in the toilet blocks for makeup removal – this includes face paint, war paint, body paint, or makeup removal of any kind. Please do not leave your makeup remover wipes and paper towels in the toilet block or on the sinks outside of the toilets, and do not flush makeup removal wipes and paper towels. Dispose of them properly in a bin. If the bin in the toilet block is full, please take the time to find another bin. Skips will be nearby. DO NOT leave broken chairs, tents, marquees or other large items in or around the provided skips. If you brought it with you, take it home with you. As is standard protocol at all campsites: Leave it the way you found it. NO GLASS POLICY. Mafeking Rover Park has a strict No Glass Policy. They have been kind enough to allow us to continue using glass gems and SMALL potion bottles. ALL other glass bottles, lanterns, ornaments are NOT allowed on site. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the event. THE TAVERN. The Loose Cannon Tavern will be operation between the hours of 12:00pm - 1:00am every night. This is a 100% licensed premise and follows all rules and laws pertaining to the responsible service of alcohol. All laws and regulations will be displayed within the licensed premise. Failure to adhere to these rules can result in being banned from the tavern or being removed from the event. COMBATANTS AND NON-COMBATANTS. There will be non-combatants including children under 16 years of age and some vendors at the event. Adult non-combatants will be given a white sash to wear to indicate that they are a non-combatant. You are not to enter into Swordcraft combat with a non-combatant under any circumstances. THE FACTIONS. There are 5 major factions representing 5 different elements, each with their own themed Avatar all vying for control of the town, its wealth, and the Empire! (Black = Void, Blue = Water, Gold = Air, Green = Earth, Red = Fire) Houses and warbands may joining a faction to take part in many of the activities at Quest. Houses in a faction may receive ducats (via membership, from their faction’s pool, and if the faction wins the final battle). Houses that join a faction are entitled to ducats equal to the number of full days they have been in the faction prior to the Saturday Final Battle (Monday = 5 ducats, Tuesday = 4 ducats….. Friday = 1 ducat). A House or warband can only officially join a faction between 9am and 6pm by talking to the Avatar. Each member of a warband who has joined a faction is given a ribbon that they can keep on their person to prove their allegiance. This ribbon becomes a lootable item by that faction’s members if a warband changes faction mid-game. Each morning two factions will be given an objective by their Avatars to complete, similar to Friday night game objectives (capture the flag, item capture etc.). If the faction completes their objective by 10am, 1 ducat is added to the faction’s pool. Each afternoon, the fort guarding the town may be captured. The faction in control (with their banner in the banner holder) at 4pm will be awarded 9 ducats to add to its pool. Avatars are able to be assassinated (this requires a Rune item) between 9am and 6pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am to 2pm Saturday. If an avatar is killed, 1 ducat is taken from the faction’s ducat pool at the end of the final battle and added to the assassin's faction’s pool. Avatars respawn half an hour after they have been killed and are able to be assassinated multiple times. Faction Banners can be stolen. If a faction loses their banner they will lose 1 ducat from their pool. Banners are NOT allowed to be stored in tents. They must be out in the open (regardless of camp) and within approx. 10m of an entrance. Each faction will have their Avatar and 3 rune warriors (selected by the avatar) in the final battle. Note: players not in a faction are unable to take part in the final battle. The winning Faction of the Final Battle (last banner standing) gets: - to appoint a new Emperor/Empress for next Quest and the right to police and help organise the town for the next Quest. - 1 ducats to add to its pool for each House at Quest, to split evenly among its Houses, any leftover ducats to be allocated by the Faction in whatever manner it decides [This will reward a winning Faction with less Houses as each gets a bigger slice of the pie]. THE SENATE More information coming soon. LOOTING. This a fundamental part of some players’ quest experience and a mechanic used for exchanging goods. You many not loot any item without the players explicate permission unless it is a ribbon from a faction that the dead player’s warband has abandoned. All other looting is a Role playing option. Many players will run their own quests or missions for either their own group of friends or the wider community. If you find an item that looks out of place but you don’t know what it’s for, have a look. If it’s readable, read it, but do not remove it unless you know what it’s for. Some players will leave instructions with items, if it’s something you are uncomfortable or unable to do, do not take the item. Feel free to sell/tell the location of items to other players. Do not just take an item for the sake of having it. DEATH AND HEALING. Healing and Respawning at Quest 1. Normal SC healing rules apply if you are not yet "dead". 2. You are considered "dead" and need to respawn if you are incapacitated i.e. on zero HP and either: (a) you bled out; (b) someone has performed a coup de grace on you; or (c) you were struck by a siege weapon or epic creature (you're pulped...). 3. To respawn, you must visit Death in the town. This may involve a challenge. 4. Respawned players will not be able to remember at least their final 30 minutes prior to their respawning and should RP accordingly. 5. Bleeding out: (a) If you are bleeding out, you need to count to 60 (approximately a minute). On reaching 60 you are considered dead. (b) If you are healed while bleeding out, you have been saved and wont die (that time). When healing commences your death count is paused. If the healing is interrupted your death count resumes at the same point. (c) If another player actively and continuously performs first aid and does nothing else (for example holds a bandage to your "wound" to staunch the bleeding while doing nothing else), your death count is also paused. If the first aid stops or is interrupted the death count resumes. Additional players could get involved such as 2 of them carrying you while the first aider continues to administer first aid. Both the dying player and the first aider are encouraged to RP the experience. All other previous special quest death and healing rules we have used in the past are replaced by these rules. CONDUCTING A SIEGE. Siege rules used at last Quest will continue to apply subject minor edits. Further details will be provided prior to the event. |
